Your topic | I am concerned this magnet school lottery system could be a deal-breaker for many home buyers. I live three-quarters of a mile from Keppel Elementary and have applied for a kindergarten spot at the site for my 5-year-old son. Why would any family or professional couple planning to start a family invest in this neighborhood without having any idea where their children will be enrolled? |

Your topic | When a country loses its ability to produce its own military hardware, it leaves itself open to military defeat. This is the same rationale for maintaining our steel industry; we may be able to buy it cheaper from China, but when our interests don't align with theirs, see how cooperative they are. In our current liberal climate, perhaps we are doomed to ignore history and learn a lesson the hard way; I just hope for our childrens sake that lesson will not be irreversible. |

Law suit | The city had a chance to settle the law suit for 400K instead of 1.7 million with the man who was wrongly detained. Are the citizens going to have to eat this because the City Council did not know a good thing when they had one. |

Single Use Plastic Bags | The banning of single use bags from being given out for free is a definitely a step in the right direction. Cashiers putting every thing in a bag, even single items like an apple or a banana. Most people use over 130 bags each year,. The majority of the plastic bags used are not even recycled and instead sent to landfills, or worse, they wind up on beaches, roads, and sidewalks. There are thousands of plastic bags floating in the ocean the size of Texas! |

Homelessness | It is time for our government to take more serious actions on the issue of homelessness. Instead of looking for funds to provide welfare, temporary shelters and healthcare to less fortunate people, training officers, providing courts and jails to deal with crime, it is better to revise government spending and target the main causes of the issue. |

Pedestrain Safety | A baby in a stroller, a middle school student and two seniors were struck this week by motorists while they were walking in Glendale crosswalks. Being a pedestrian is literally taking your life into your hands. Glendale is a wonderful place to walk, just do not cross the street! |

Safe Holiday | Be thoughtful in what you do with festive photos of other people, especially if you are in party mode. Ask their permission before you post images of them online for everyone else to see. |

Your topic | Chemicals in our food have been a source of great profit to various conglomerates for some time. The last thing the Monsantos and ADMs of the world want is popularity of organic foods. The only reason these foods are more expensive now is simply economies of scale. It's supposed to be "cheaper" to force growth with chemicals and GMO techniques. But this is turning out to be a false assumption. |

Banning Single Use Bags | The banning of single use paper bags from being given out for free is a definitely a step in the right direction. Plastic bags are given out too freely now, with cashiers putting every thing in a bag, even single items like an apple or a banana. Given that it is assumed that most people use over 130 bags each year, it is essential that everyone starts making changes to be more environmentally conscious. |

Teachers | Understandable that family PPO costs more for the district because it covers more people. However, this means I am taking a huge paycut, and others aren't. I also do not see that the district will negotiate this out of the contract ever even though that jargon is in the agreement. I will be taking a bigger paycut each year. Difficult to raise a family. |
